Alma Gladys Simon, 99 of Cedar Rapids , died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Living Center West. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 9 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids , located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery . Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the chapel.

Alma was born April 1, 1911 in rural Linn County , near Swisher, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Sirowy Benish. She married Frank Simon on August 12, 1936 in Rock Island , Illinois . She worked for over 28 years at Killian's Tea Room.

Alma is survived by her husband Frank of Cedar Rapids; nieces Janice (Jim) Howell, Janelle Benish; nephews Marlyn (Mickie) Benish, Darrell (Janet) Benish and Robert (Marilyn) Simon; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, a brother and sister in law Elmer and Gladys Benish; as well as infant brother.

Memorials may be directed to either the Cedar Valley Humane Society or the Alzheimers Association.
