Alma B. Roman, 99, Detroit Lake , MN , formerly of Cedar Rapids , died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes . Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids . Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery , Cedar Rapids . Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids , temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW .

Alma Bertha Roman was born November 3, 1910 in Linn County , the daughter of Joseph and Amelia (Novak) Dohnalek. She was raised on a farm in Linn County and graduated from high school in 1928. Alma was united in marriage to Ernest Roman September 15, 1934 in Cedar Rapids . They made their home in Cedar Rapids where she worked for Collins Radio, retiring in 1972. Ernest died in 1999 and Alma moved to Detroit Lakes , MN in 2001.

Alma enjoyed baking, deserts, and raising African Violets.

Survivors include a daughter: Beverly (Joseph) Horacek of Detroit Lakes, MN; two grandchildren: Cindy (Dave) Kingrey and Richard (Lisa) Horacek; four great grandchildren: Grace and Sarah Kingrey; Quinn and Avery Horacek; a sister: Gladys Peterson of Cedar Rapids . In addition to her husband, Ernest, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Dohnalek.
