Alma A. McNamara, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 26, 2021, in her home. Celebration of life services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Brosh Chapel, were there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of America rosary. The family asks that everyone attending please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Alma was born September 2, 1930, in Marion, the daughter of Paul C. and Nellie (Kadera) Hamer. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Roosevelt High School, class of 1948. Alma was united in marriage to Eugene R. McNamara at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in 1948. She worked with her husband for many years at McNamara Oil Company and later CRST until her retirement. Alma enjoyed sewing, puzzles, crosswords, and most of all spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Alma is survived by her children Julie (Gary) Mann of Lebanon, Tennessee, Janelle (Jeff) Smith and Susan (Tom) Krejci both of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law Carol McNamara of Marion; grandchildren Erin, Craig, Sara, Jessica, Matt, Mike, Audrey and Sally; great-grandchildren Ian, Olivia, Devon, Gracie, Julia, Colton, Madison, Seamus, John Paul, Hannah, Austin, Trent, Dillon, Norah, Chloe, Ella, Karrington, Jay, Anna, Caila, Larry, and Wyatt; great-great-grandchildren Grayson, Hadley, Saylor, Cooper and Avery; as well her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene, her son Thomas McNamara, her sisters Doris Moyer and Nelda Hamer, her brothers Lenard and Ivan Hamer, her grandchildren Alison and Joseph.
Memorials may be directed to the Catholic Daughters of America in her name.
