Allen DeWayne Augustine, 67 of Coralville, passed away peacefully from a lengthy illness, Thursday, July 23, 2015 in his home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at Life Tabernacle Church, located at 4187 Dane Road, with Pastor Darren Murphy presiding. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. A reception and family reunion celebration will be held from 10 a.m until 6 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at St. Morrison Park in Coralville. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements. Allen was born October 21, 1947 in Iowa City, the son of LaFay and Gustine (Fowler) Augustine. Allen served in the United States Army from January 1966 until 2004. Al was a certified executive chef and shared his love for food with his friends and family. His religion and serving the Lord helped him through life. He was a member of the Life Tabernacle Church and was instrumental in many projects the church was a part of. Al really enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Allen is survived by his son William Augustine of North Liberty; granddaughter Annastasia Augustine of North Liberty; great-grandson Kaden Rorex and Kaleb Rorex; siblings LaVina Brown of Coralville, Kenneth Augustine of Salina, Kansas, Richard Augustine of Omaha, Nebraska, and Clayton Augustine of San Marcos, Texas; as well as his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gaylord Augustine and Albert "Auggie" Augustine, and his grandson James Augustine. Memorials may be directed to the family.
