Alice Lilly Barker, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Alice was born June 6, 1926, in Iowa County, near Norway, the daughter of William and Anna (Hager) Kopf. She was a proud graduate of Norway High School. Following, she lived with her sister Annie, and they liked to go to dances at the Armar Ballroom, where they met and later married best friends Bill Barker and Junior Binley. Alice was united in marriage to William "Bill" Barker on August 29, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. In her earlier years, she worked at a bakery, and later at Rockwell Collins. She worked over 20 years for the Trickey family at the May City and Westdale Lanes, in the nursery, where she took care of generations of children. She enjoyed playing cards, being a mom, grandma and most of all spending time with her family. Her penmanship and attention to details were known to all who knew her.
Alice is survived by her daughter Kathy (Richard) Grant of Marion; grandchildren Casey Cramblet, Jessica Cramblet (Terrell Sykes) both of Cedar Rapids; three great-grandchildren Lucy, Emersyn and Oaklen; additional grandchildren Dallas Grant, and Adam Williams; her brother-in-law Jack (Doris) Barker of Marion; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, who died March 28, 2020, her siblings, Anna Mae (Wilmer) Binley, Mayme (Ed) Cechura, Irene (Dale) Bahr, Agnes (Floyd) Klein, Walter (Betty) Kopf, Ruthie Kopf, Blanche Parvin, and Helen Binz; brother George (Blanche) Kopf; a half-brother Fred Puegner, and her father and mother-in-law Rolla and Mary Barker.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
