Albert Henry Nath, 84 of Solon, died Monday, January 27, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Full military rites will be conducted by the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar Street. Private family inurnment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Albert was born May 2, 1929 in Saratoga, the son of Harry and Ella (Horstman) Nath. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from December 19, 1947 - January 19, 1954. Albert married Lavene Stinson on March 29, 1948 in Cresco. She died on September 22, 1983. He married Donna Higgins on April 25, 1985 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Albert was a mechanic for many years and managed the West Liberty Truck Stop for Brooke Enterprises until his retirement in August of 1985. He later worked in property maintenance for an apartment complex in Coralville. Albert enjoyed woodworking, lawn maintenance, dancing, hunting in his early years, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Albert is survived by his wife Donna; his children, Shari Hintermeister of North Liberty, Vicki (Don) Anderson of Mesa, Arizona, Tammi (Tim) Hamer of West Branch, and Todd (Jennifer) Nath of Mechanicsville; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Lavene, an infant son Albert Jr., a son-in-law William Hintermeister, and a brother Jack (Nancy) Nath. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
